About Jan Stone

As a registered psychologist, my aim is to help clients achieve normalcy and control in their life. At different times in their life, individuals may experience events and circumstances beyond their abilities to understand or cope with effectively.

These may lead to symptoms of

  • anxiety
  • fear
  • panic
  • stress
  • sleep disturbance
  • breathing difficulties
  • eating problems
  • mood swings and many more.

Such occurrences may impinge on personal relationships with loved ones, resulting in separation and divorce; children may act out and experience issues at school; and individuals may feel stress at work. Whether it is a family issue such as relationships, communication, separation or divorce management, individual coping issues, or school related problems, my role is to listen and aid clients in discovering their strengths and help them to develop strategies to realise success in their lives.

Jan listened to my inability to cope with my fears. My life was at a standstill due to my panic and irrational behaviour around simple everyday situations such as stormy weather, flying and even the noise of building sites. Jan taught me to relax and meditate, and she also coached me in self-talk techniques to calm the fears and face them confidently. It wasn’t easy for me as the behaviour was well-entrenched. Jan was patient and guided me through the roughest patches. I am much stronger now and able to recognise the triggers and handle them.
